Review of the Slovene Economy from 6 to 12 July

Ljubljana, 14 July - The parliament adopted the supplementary budget for 2002, incurring a budget deficit of nearly 1.3 percent of the GDP. The European Commission proposed a common agriculture policy reform, which in the words of Slovene Agriculture Minister Franci But is going in the right direction. Slovenia also agreed to be considered as one statistical region in the EU, but only until 2006 for now. The compromise enables the EU and Slovenia to close one more negotiating chapter, i.e. regional policy.
