SDSS Quits Government Coalition

Meeting in session on Thursday, the council of the Social Democratic Party of Slovenia (SDSS) passed a resolution for a withdrawal of the party from the governing coalition. At a press conference on Friday, party chairman Janez Janša cited among the reasons for the decision "blatant breaching of the provisions of the coalition agreement, passivity on the part of the majority of the goverment with regard to the spread of corruption and unreadiness to tackle it, and changes to the relationships among political forces, all of which have arisen since the emergence of Liberal Democracy of Slovenia".
