Slovenia's Fed Cup Team Makes it Among Top 16

Portorož, 21 July - Slovenia's Fed Cup team made it among the world's best 16 teams, taking an unassailable 3:0 lead in its qualifying encounter against the Ukraine on Sunday. The third Slovene rubber was won by Tina Pisnik, ranked 43rd on the WTA world rankings, who beat Tatyana Perebiynis (121st) in three sets 7:6 (3), 4:6, 6:3 under the burning sun in the Slovene seaside resort of Portoroz. Slovenia's qualification for the world group of the Fed Cup is considered to be the greatest success in Slovene tennis since the country gained independence in 1991.
