Arhar Explains His Apparently Conflicting Role in Bank Privatisation

Ljubljana, 24 July - France Arhar, a former central bank governor who has announced to run for president in the November elections, told a Slovene business daily Wednesday that he did not oppose the selling of Slovene banks to foreign partners. Finance asked Arhar to comment on his attitude towards privatisation of Slovene banks after it had turned out that he advised on the sale of a Maribor-based bank to Austrian bank group, while he signed a petition for a referendum against the sale of Slovenia's largest bank to foreigners.
