LJUBLJANA - The trade union of Slovene farmers is to stage a strike which is to begin at around midday in front of the government palace in the capital. Unhappy with the government agricultural policy, the farmers are expected to read a note of protest calling for the realisation of all given promises.

BRUSSELS - Slovenia is to participate in the latest round of accession negotiations between the EU and the applicant countries. Slovenia - its delegation will be headed by Europe Minister and chief negotiator with the EU Janez Potocnik - is expected to close the regional policy chapter of the acquis, increasing the total number of chapters it has closed in EU accession negotiations to 28 of 30.
