Review of the Slovene Economy from 20 to 26 July
Ljubljana, 28 July - The battle for control of brewer Pivovarna Union and the saga about insurer Zavarovalnica Triglav continued to make headlines this week. In the "brewers' war", both rival bidders for Slovenia's second largest brewer, Pivovarna Lasko and Interbrew, published their takeover offers. The two sides got a chance to go face to face at the Union AGM on Thursday, which passed without major surprises, although tension could be felt. The tension surrounding the demand that chairwoman of Slovenia's largest insurer Triglav be dismissed - made by the insurance watchdog - did not find its epilogue either as Triglav's supervisory board decided to postpone a decision on whether to sack Nada Klemencic until early August.
