MONDAY, 29 July

LJUBLJANA - Unhappy with the government agricultural policy, the trade union of Slovene farmers is to stage a strike in front of the government palace in the capital.

BRUSSELS - Slovenia is to participate in the latest round of accession negotiations between the EU and the applicant countries.

LJUBLJANA - The opposition New Slovenia (NSi) is to hold a regular session of the party committee at which members are to discuss preparations for the upcoming presidential and local elections.

LJUBLJANA - The opposition National Party (SNS) is to touch on problems linked to promoting tourism in Slovenia at a press conference.

TUESDAY, 30 July

BRUSSELS - Europe Minister Janez Potocnik is to meet with Danish Ambassador to the EU Poul Skytte Christoffersen and Irish State Minister for EU Dick Roche.

LJUBLJANA - The parliamentary defence committee, headed by its chairman Rudolf Petan, is to receive the chief-of-staff of the Italian Army, General Rolando Mosca Moschini.

LJUBLJANA - The junior coalition Pensioners' Party (DeSUS) is set to hold a session of its executive committee which is to examine preparations for upcoming elections, Slovenia's bid to join NATO and legislation-related problems.

THURSDAY, 1 August

LJUBLJANA - The Helsinki Monitor of Slovenia is to hold a press conference on illegal deportations of people erased from the citizen register.
