Slovene Farmers Warn of Even Bigger Protests if Promises are not Fulfilled

Ljubljana, 29 July - Some 3,000 Slovene farmers gathered at the government palace in Ljubljana on Monday to voice their displeasure over government policies in agriculture, as well as to highlight what they say are the tough conditions they face. According to Marjan Gorenc, the head of the trade union of farmers, which organised the rally, today's action signals the beginning of a new round of talks on the promises which have been given and which, if not fulfilled, will lead to even bigger protests.
