Review of the Slovene Economy from 27 July to 2 August
Ljubljana, 4 August - July's inflation stood at 0.5 percent, with the annual inflation rate hitting 7.2 percent, the latest figures from the National Statistical Office have shown. Among other highlights of the week, there is the government adoption of a budget memorandum for the years 2003 and 2004. Moreover, the Office for Corruption Prevention compiled a report on the largest Slovene insurer, Zavarovalnica Triglav, and another chapter of legislation - regional policy - on which Slovenia is negotiating with the EU was closed. Dissatisfied with Slovenia's agricultural policy, farmers from throughout Slovenia staged a protest rally in the middle of Ljubljana.
