Two Roles of Pope Under Observation from Rome, Delo Comments
Ljubljana, 21 August - During his travel to Poland, Pope John Paul II was watched closely by Rome, which saw him from two aspects. In one he was seen as an old pope, stepping in his old footsteps, remembering his youth and perhaps even saying goodbye to the places he loved most in his life. In the other he was seen as a Catholic leader who has changed so much compared to his views in the late 1970s. These are now much closer to anti-globalisation activists and ideas of former liberation theologians than they are to many of the Curia Romana, a leading Slovene daily observes in the Wednesday issue.
