State Prosecutor General Confirms Transfer of the Petek Case to Maribor Prosecutors
Ljubljana, 26 August - State Prosecutor General Zdenka Cerar confirmed Monday that the police investigation into the widely publicised attack on a Slovene journalist has been transferred from the northern town of Slovenj Gradec, where the attack took place in 2001 February, to Maribor, NE Slovenia. The probe into the work of the Slovenj Gradec prosecution office has showed that the work was done in a fair and competent ways, she told a press conference. The office could have proceeded with the investigation, but nevertheless chose to withdraw from the case, given all the pressure coming from "the public, media and personal contacts", according to Cerar.
