Money Obtained from Sale of NLB to be Used for Debt Restructuring
Ljubljana, 4 September - As the EUR 435 million that Belgian banking group KBC is to pay by the end of the week for a 34-percent stake in Slovenian bank NLB can only be used to reduce Slovenia's debt, the state intends to give two options to owners of restructuring bonds. They will either be allowed to sell them, or exchange them for new securities, which will have a first-class guarantee and lower interest rates.
