Review of Events Involving Slovenia from 14 to 20 September

Ljubljana, 21 September - The Slovenian and Croatian governments made it possible for the temporary fisheries regime in the Piran Bay to be implemented. While FM Dimitrij Rupel and Defence Minister Anton Grizold lobbied for NATO support in the U.S. and Canada, a great stir was caused by a possibility that Russian Orthodox Patriarch Alexy II and Pope John Paul II could meet for the first time in Slovenia. The news was later categorically denied by the Moscow Patriarchate.
