European Commission Confirms Higher BSE Risk for Slovenia
Brussels, 23 September - The European Commission has confirmed the placement of Slovenia in a group of countries with higher risk of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE). Slovenia has until now been the only EU applicant country in the second group where BSE is "unlikely, but risk cannot be excluded", but two mad cow cases in Slovenia have prompted the Commission to rank it in the third group of countries which are "likely to present a BSE risk, even if not confirmed, or presenting a low level of confirmed BSE risk".
