Minister Potocnik Lobbies for EU Membership in Rome
Rome, 25 September - Common interests of Slovenia and Italy and the latter's support of Slovenia in the establishment of the Schengen border were discussed on Wednesday, as Slovenia's Europe Minister Janez Potocnik met with Italian counterpart Rocco Buttiglione during a working visit to Rome. Potocnik said afterwards that Italy is not against finding a way by which new EU members would avoid becoming net payers to the common budget immediately upon membership.
