Review of Events Involving Slovenia from 21 to 27 September

Ljubljana, 28 September - Slovenia's bid to join the EU and NATO headed talks the country's officials held with foreign counterparts during a number of visits abroad this week. Slovenian Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel thus met with Estonian and Finnish officials during his tour of the two countries at the beginning of the week. Later on in the week, Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Drnovsek visited Ireland, where the focus was on Ireland's repeat referendum on the Nice Treaty. Meanwhile, President Milan Kucan kicked off a visit to Poland late in the week, meeting with counterpart Aleksander Kwasniewski, with NATO and EU topping the agenda.
