Gov't Takes Action in Case of Roma Election Rights
Ljubljana, 3 October - The government on Thursday decided to launch a procedure at the Constitutional Court to check whether the statutes of the municipalities of Beltinci, Grosuplje, Krsko, Semic, Sentjernej and Trebnje are in line with the Constitution and the act on local-self government. The move comes after these municipalities refused to implement changes aimed at ensuring that autochthonous Romany communities can vote in their representative to the municipal council at the November local elections.
