Patient Discusses Weather with Surgeons During Open Heart Surgery
Ljubljana, 4 October - Only two-days after a revolutionary heart surgery, during which the patient was awake, the 41-year-old, who looked as if she had undergone only a minor procedure, was cheerfully explaining how she chatted about the weather and music with the anaesthesiologist during the operation. The surgery, first of its kind in Slovenia, was carried out using only epidural anaesthesia, which blocks all sensations in the part of the body undergoing the procedure, daily Delo reports on Friday.
