European Commission to Propose Ten Aspirants to Join the EU, Including Slovenia

Brussels, 4 October - The European Commission will propose that ten candidate countries, including Slovenia, will be ready to close EU accession talks and join the Union in 2004, well-informed sources in Brussels suggested on Friday. This is said to be the assessment passed by the Commission on 9 October, when regular reports on the progress the candidate countries have made towards EU membership are to be released.
