Path to EU Drawn, Pressure to Fulfil Commitments Continues

Brussels, 9 October - By recommending that ten candidate countries, including Slovenia, join the EU in 2004, the European Commission has firmly drawn the path that future members will have to take. Accession negotiations must thus end until the end of this year, but in order for the final, financial, package of negotiations to conclude, the 15 member states must still adopt a common negotiating position.
