Progress Report: Central Bank Begs to Differ on Reasons for High Inflation

Ljubljana, 10 October - The Bank of Slovenia is pleased with the 2002 report on Slovenia's progress towards EU accession and shares the view expressed by the European Commission that inflation is the chief concern regarding the country's macroeconomic stability. However, the central bank believes that monetary policy is not the underpinning reason for the high inflation rate; instead, inflation has been boosted by price growth.
