Slovenia is an Easy Candidate for the EU, Says Commissioner Verheugen

Brussels, 11 October - It is no secret that Slovenia is "an easy candidate" for EU membership and that it does not have really serious problems. It is certainly a country that will fulfil the accession criteria fully already before the foreseen date of accession at the beginning of 2004. This is what European Enlargement Commissioner Guenter Verheugen told TV Slovenija on Thursday evening, a day after the European Commission recommended that ten candidates, including Slovenia, wrap up accession talks by the end of the year.
