First Changes to Constitution Get Backing in Parliamentary Commission

Ljubljana, 17 October - The parliamentary commission on constitutional changes on Thursday took the first substantial step in its first year - it proposed that the parliament should start the necessary procedures to cross out Article 143 of the Constitution which gives municipalities the possibility to join into wider self-governing local communities. Experts as well as politicians have agreed that the provision is outdated and no longer corresponds to the actual situatio.
