Weekly Review of Events Involving Slovenia from 12 to 18 October
Ljubljana, 19 October - The middle of the week revealed who would get their name on the ballot at the 11 November presidential and local elections. Nine presidential candidacies have been approved by the election commission, while one is still pending a decision. Domestic affairs thus completely overshadowed Slovenia's foreign relations, although FM Dimitrij Rupel did outline the new strategy of Slovenia's foreign policy. On the EU front, the eyes are turning to Ireland, where today a referendum could obstruct the planned EU enlargement.
