Final Leg of Journey towards EU for Slovenia

Ljubljana, 23 October - Slovenia is at the end of a decade of efforts aimed at fulfilling its ambition to become an EU member state. By the end of the year Slovenia still has to face intensive negotiations on financial aspects of the accession and go through necessary adjustments for life within the EU. Institutional relations with the EU were established on 1 September 1993 when a co-operation agreement was implemented. EU membership is expected for 2004.
