SDS against Gov't-Established Provinces
Ljubljana, 24 October - The Social Democrats (SDS) are against striking out Article 143 of the Constitution that grants municipalities the right to merge in larger self-administration units and provinces, SDS chair Janez Jansa told a press conference on Thursday. The constitutional changes would enable the state to decide on the size and number of future provinces, which SDS deems unnecessary, as the current legislation already allows for the municipalities to establish provinces.
