Maoist Rebels Threaten Slovenian Expedition to Wedge Peak
Ljubljana, 25 October - A Slovenian expedition to the 6780m Wedge Peak in the Himalayas was stopped by Maoist rebels on the way to base camp, the commercial network POP TV reported Friday. The rebels demanded 400 US$ per person for safe passage, the station reported, but the expedition members said they had no money; the rebels then let them pass and said that they would have to pay on the way back.
