Weekly Review of Events Involving Slovenia from 19 to 25 October

Ljubljana, 26 October - After the Irish said "yes" to the ratification of the Nice treaty on 19 October, all eyes were on the EU summit in Brussels last week, which on Friday backed the European Commission recommendation that the Union take in ten candidate countries, including Slovenia, and agreed on how to finance enlargement. EU integration also topped the agenda of Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel's visit to Poland. The election fever dominated the home scene, as the election campaigns of the nine presidential candidates came into full swing.
