From Disappointment in Madrid to Success in Prague?

Ljubljana, 17 November - Slovenia has been working with NATO for almost a decade now, with membership in the Alliance being set as its foreign policy goal in 1996. Ljubljana expected to receive a membership invitation back in 1997, but the Madrid summit turned out a disappointment for it. Five years later and with the Prague summit of the Alliance nearing, Slovenian officials remain optimistic that this time around NATO will invite it to join its ranks.
