EU Enlargement on 1 May 2004 Acceptable under Certain Conditions, Says Rupel

Brussels, 18 November - EU enlargement on 1 January 2004 would suit Slovenia best, but 1 May 2004 would be acceptable under certain conditions, namely if Slovenia, as a full-fledged EU member, can take part in the European Parliament elections in June 2004 and in the intergovernmental conference (IGC) which is to decide upon a long-term EU institutional reform, Slovenian Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel commented on the EU foreign ministers' decision on Monday.
