NATO Summit: Enlargement Will Strengthen NATO, Says Robertson

Prague, 21 November - This round of enlargement will "maintain and increase NATO's strength", said NATO Secretary General George Robertson after announcing Thursday the names of the seven new NATO members, labelling the move a "crucially important decision". In what is the biggest expansion in NATO's over 50-year history, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania and Slovakia will join the Alliance, bringing the total number of members to 26.
