NATO Summit: 195 Citizens File Referendum Initiative

Ljubljana, 21 November - A group of 195 intellectuals, artists, journalists, and other members of civil society submitted a declaration to the Slovenian Parliament Thursday, urging lawmakers to call a referendum on NATO membership and the government to make the necessary preparations. Due to the far-reaching changes that membership would result in, the signatories believe that a broad debate is necessary; this is something that has not been done sufficiently so far, they believe.
