Survey Suggest Farmers' Situation Could Worsen After EU Entry
Bled, 25 November - The financial status of Slovenian farmers could deteriorate drastically after EU entry, suggests a survey conducted by the National Agriculture Institute and the Faculty of Biotechnology. Should farmers receive 25 percent of the farm subsidies that their EU peers get, the funds would not make up for the anticipated fall of prices, and their overall income could drop by as much as 15 or even 25 percent, according to the survey.
