Transition Period for Selling Land to Foreigners Part of the EU Compromise Deal

Brussels, 25 November - A seven year transitional period for selling land to foreigners, citizens of the EU, is to be one of the offers included in the Danish EU presidency's compromise package which is to serve as a basis for the conclusion of the EU accession negotiations with the ten candidates hoping to join the EU in 2004. For the next three years after that, Slovenia would be able to trigger off a security mechanism which would be under the EU supervision, STA has found out from diplomatic sources in Brussels.
