Ljubljana, 7 December - Presidential elections and reshuffling of the government topped the headlines of the past week after Prime Minister Janez Drnovsek was elected second Slovenian President. Only a day after the run-off to the presidential and local elections took place, he informed Parliamentary Speaker Borut Pahor that he is stepping down from his post as prime minister, which was followed by a few days of coalition discussions on the next head of government. President Milan Kucan, who is leaving the presidential office after ten years, thus proposed outgoing Finance Minister Anton Rop as the prime minister designate to the parliament on Friday.
