Review of Events Involving Slovenia from 7 to 13 December

Ljubljana, 14 December - Slovenia concluded EU accession negotiations in Copenhagen and got a new prime minister-designate, as outgoing Finance Minister Anton Rop was elected to the post with great parliamentary backing. He already sent a list of his ministers to parliament, so that the country is expected to get a new cabinet before Christmas. Outgoing Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel together with his Croatian counterpart Tonino Picula opened the first of 27 local border crossings to be set along Slovenian-Croatian border. A major achievement on the international scene was the decision by OSCE that Slovenia is to preside over the organisation in 2005.
