Parliament to Inaugurate New State President Today

Ljubljana, 22 December - The first Slovenian President Milan Kucan is to say goodbye before the parliament after serving two full terms in the presidential office on Sunday afternoon. Around 6 PM, his successor, former Prime Minister Janez Drnovsek is to be inaugurated president in a ceremonial parliamentary session. Kucan, who was first elected president in 1992 and re-elected in 1997, will become the first retired Slovenian president at midnight.
