Review of Slovenia's Economy from 21 to 27 December

Ljubljana, 29 December - Holiday mood set in firmly last week on the business scene. The calm was only occasionally interrupted, notably with the National Council's veto on the budget implementation act and rumours that brewer Pivovarna Lasko received an offer from Belgium's interbrew to sell its stake in rival brewery Pivovarna Union. But just as the lawmakers easily re-confirmed the budget implementation act, so did Lasko reject speculations about the sale of its stake to Interbrew, its bitter rival in the stalemated "brewers' battle" for the takeover of Union.
