Press Comments on Disputed Slovenian Direct Payments Compensations
Maribor/Ljubljana, 4 March - Monday's talks between the agriculture and the finance ministers with the prime minister on whether Slovenian farmers should get compensations at 75 percent of EU direct payments in 2003 echoe in Tuesday's press. One daily observes that if Slovenia pays less to its farmers this year, they will not get 100 percent compensations as early as 2007, but only in 2013. Another daily, however, says that as the macroeconomic situation is unfavourable, everybody, including the farmers should have to do with less.
