Slovenian Banks' Pre-Tax Earnings Soar by 200 Percent

Ljubljana, 7 March - The total assets of Slovenian banks, which saw a rise in ownership shares by foreigners last year, rose to SIT 4,538bn (EUR 19.6bn) by the end of 2002, according to preliminary and unaudited results of the Bank of Slovenia. The overall total assets thus rose by 17 percent in nominal terms over 2001. Banks' pre-tax earnings soared by almost 200 percent in nominal terms last year, amounting to SIT 46.12bn (EUR 199m).
