Ljubljana, 12 March - The STA English service will cover the following events on Thursday, 13 March:
BRDO PRI KRANJU/LJUBLJANA - The EU's high representative for the common foreign and security policy, Javier Solana, is scheduled to begin a two-day visit at 2 PM. Solana is to met with Slovenian Prime Minister Anton Rop, whereupon the pair is to give a statement to the press at 3:15 PM, to be followed by a meeting with Parliament Speaker Borut Pahor and an address to lawmakers. A dinner with President Janez Drnovsek is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
LJUBLJANA - Luxembourg's Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Lydie Polfer is to pay a working visit at the invitation of her Slovenian counterpart Dimitrij Rupel. Polfer is also expected to be recieved by President Janez Drnovsek. Slovenia's accession to the EU and NATO as well as questions related to the Convention on the future of Europe are to top her agenda here. Rupel and Polfer are to speak to the press at 10:30 AM.
LJUBLJANA - The Centre for Public Opinion Research of the Faculty of Social Sciences is to present results of the latest Politbarometer, a survey polling the public's opinion on Slovenia's EU and NATO integration. The press conference is scheduled for noon.
LJUBLJANA - At 3 PM views on the competitive ability of the Slovenian economy upon EU accession are to be confronted in a public debate, organised by the parliamentary economics committee.
LJUBLJANA - A panel on the U.S. foreign policy and its effects for the world is to take place in the evening, to be chaired by Dr Bojko Bucar, a professor of international relations at the Faculty of Social Sciences.
LJUBLJANA - At its weekly session, the government is to debate this year's Human Development Report, and the completion of the sell-off of NLB, Slovenia's largest bank.
LJUBLJANA - Italian Minister for Relations with the Parliament Carlo Giovanardi is to meet with Speaker Borut Pahor during his official visit to Slovenia. Giovanardi, who arrived in Slovenia on Wednesday upon the invitation of chair of the parliamentary foreign affairs committee Jelko Kacin, is also expected to meet with lawmakers. LJUBLJANA - A civic campaign called "We're Building Zones of Peace" will be presented to the press. At the same time, the campaign to withdraw Slovenia's support from the Vilnius declaration is to wrap up.
