Do Not Expect EU to Develop Collective Defence System, Solana Stresses
Ljubljana, 14 March - Although the EU is developing its defence policy, the collective defence of the European countries will continue to be implemented through NATO. The defence assurance in the sense of the Washington Treaty which treats an attack on a member state as an attack on the entire Alliance, will not be developed by the EU, stressed EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana at his Friday lecture at the Ljubljana Faculty of Law.
