Weekly Review of Events Involving Slovenia from 8 to 14 March

Ljubljana, 15 March - The pre-referendum fever came close to boiling point this week, as Slovenia was visited by a series of senior officials who came to the country to help convince voters to vote yes at the 23 March referendums on EU and NATO accession. These included German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer, NATO Secretary General George Robertson, EU's high representative for common foreign and security policy Javier Solana and Luxembourg Foreign Minister Lydia Polfer. Against the backdrop of the red-carpet visits, relations with Croatia suffered yet another small setback. In an action strongly reminiscent of the fishing incidents that heated Slovenian_Croatia relations last summer, Croatian police seized two Slovenian trawlers alleged to have fished in Croatian waters.
