Busy Year of NATO Preparations Ahead if Referendum Succeeds
Ljubljana, 15 March - Slovenia is facing another year of busy preparations before it joins NATO in May 2004, which will happen if the citizens approve that move at the referendum. The referendum on accession to NATO, held alongside the EU referendum on 23 March, will only be part of the decade-long efforts of the Slovenian political elite to win Slovenia membership of the Alliance. Most preparations have already wrapped up, but many things are yet to be accomplished.
