Strict Legislation to Fight Alcohol Abuse in Slovenia

Ljubljana, 16 March - No alcohol will be served in pubs and restaurants until 10 AM and it will not be possible to buy it in shops between 9 PM and 7 AM as of Sunday, as the anti-alcohol act takes effect. The act was passed in an attempt to fight alcohol abuse in Slovenia, which ranks among world's leading countries according to alcohol consumption per capita, while harmful consequences of alcohol abuse are one of Slovenia's major health issues.
