Ljubljana, 16 March - Schedule of events in the week from 17 to 23 March:

MONDAY, 17 March

PORTOROZ - Parliament speakers Zlatko Tomcic of Croatia, Katalin Szili of Hungary, Pier Ferdinando Casini of Italy, and Slovenia's Borut Pahor are to hold a meeting within the partnership of the four countries to discuss EU and NATO enlargement, and the parliaments' role in the fight against organised crime and illegal migration.

BRUSSELS - Slovenia's members to the Convention on the Future of the EU and their deputies are to attend a two-day session at which the second package of articles of the future European Construction is to be discussed.

BRUSSELS - The European Parliament committe for foreign affairs is to discuss a report on the conclusion of accession talks between the EU and the ten future EU members together with individual progress reports and proposals which give the go-ahead to the accession of the candidate countries. The committe is to take a vote on the documents on Wednesday.

LJUBELJ/LOIBELPASS - A ceremony is to take place on the Austrian side of the Slovenian-Austrian border crossing Ljubelj-Loibelpass marking the end of the first reconstruction stage of the Loibelpass tunnel. Slovenia's Transport Minister Jakob Presecnik is scheduled to take part.

MOSCOW - Culture Minister Andreja Rihter is to kick off a two-day working visit to Russia at the invitation of her Russian counterpart Mikhail Shvydkoi.

LJUBLJANA - The Institute for Macroeconomic Analyses and Development (IMAD) is to present a report revealing whether the country's development pursues the goal of sustainable increase of welfare among Slovenia's population.

LJUBLJANA - The Agriculture Ministry is to speak to the press about reasons for the presence of the banned drug Chloramphenicol in milk.

LJUBLJANA - The Association of the Free Trade Unions (ZSSS) is to hold a news conference about ZSSS's view of Slovenia's integration into the EU.

TUESDAY, 18 March

LJUBLJANA - Iceland's President Olafur Ragnar Grimsson is to arrive for a four-day official visit to Slovenia at the invitation of Slovenia's President Janez Drnovsek.

LJUBLJANA - Hungarian Defence Minister Ferenc Juhasz is to pay an official visit, during which he is to meet his Slovenian counterpart Anton Grizold to discuss bilateral military co-operation, Slovenia's NATO accession, the two countries' EU accession and defence reforms. Juhasz is also to meet Foreign Ministry State Secretary Iztok Mirosic and members of the parliamentary defence committee.

LJUBLJANA - A Macedonian parliamentary delegation headed by Speaker Nikola Popovski is to visit Slovenia at the invitation of Slovenia's Parliament Speaker Borut Pahor.

GENEVA - Foreign Ministry State Secretary Samuel Zbogar is to attend a session of the UN Human Rights Commission.

VELENJE - The home appliances producer Gorenje is to present the 2002 operations and 2003 plans to the press.

WEDNESDAY, 19 March

LJUBLJANA - Hungarian Foreign Minister Laszlo Kovacs is to visit Slovenia at the invitation of his Slovenian counterpart Dimitrij Rupel.

BRUSSELS - Minister of Labour, Family and Social Affairs Vlado Dimovski is to attend a two-day conference reviewing the implementation of the EU's social agenda. The minister is to present Slovenia's experience in implementing the social dialogue.

LJUBLJANA - "Europa Forum", a debate organised by Bank Austria Creditanstalt to discuss major EU-related topics, is to be attended by EU Ambassador to Slovenia Erwan Fouere, Deputy Director of the Slovenian Government Office for European Affairs Andrej Engelman and Ferdinand Lacina, adviser to the board of Bank Austria Creditanstalt and former Austrian finance minister.

THURSDAY, 20 March

LJUBLJANA - Vallonian PM Jean Claude van Cauweenberghe is to arrive for a two-day visit at the invitation of Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel.

LJUBLJANA - Norway's Foreign Minister Jan Petersen is to visit Slovenia at the invitation of Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel.

BRUSSELS - Slovenia's PM and president of the ruling Liberal Democrats (LDS) Anton Rop is to attend a summit of the European Liberal Democratic Reform Party (ELDR) and hold a number bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the event. Alojz Peterle, a Slovenian MP and member of the presidency of the EU Convention, is to attend the summit of the European People's Party (EPP).

BRUSSELS - Labour Ministry State Secretary Natasa Belopavlovic is to head the Slovenian delegation at the regular annual session of the subcommittee for regional development, employment and social policy, which is in charge of monitoring progress in this field in line with the Europe Agreement.

LJUBLJANA - Regular weekly government session.

LJUBLJANA - A one-day international conference for relations with investors is to be attended by Economics Minister Tea Petrin, chairman of the board at Nova Ljubljanska banka (NLB) Marko Voljc and Director of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange Drasko Veselinovic.

FRIDAY, 21 March

LJUBLJANA - Austrian Agriculture Minister Josef Proell is to visit Slovenia at the invitation of his Slovenian counterpart Franci But.

BRUSSELS - After their spring summit EU leaders are to meet with their colleagues from the future EU member states, including Slovenian PM Anton Rop.

SATURDAY, 22 March

LJUBLJANA - Election calm ahead of the referendums on Slovenia's EU and NATO accession.

SUNDAY, 23 March

LJUBLJANA - Polls are to be open from 7 AM to 7 PM for Slovenians to cast their ballots at the referendums on Slovenia's EU and NATO membership.

LJUBLJANA - European Parliament President Pat Cox is to arrive for a visit.
