Terms of Slovenia's EU Accession Laid Down in Negotiations on Acquis

Ljubljana, 19 March - In pre-accession negotiations, Slovenia determined the manner of adopting the comprehensive acquis communautaire covering over 80,000 pages of the Official Journal of the EU. The negotiations, which kicked off in March 1998 and ended in December four years later, were divided into 31 chapters. The first three chapters, closed in November 1998, were the chapters on small and medium-sized enterprises, education, science and research. The chapter on financial terms of Slovenia's accession to the Union was the last chapter to be closed during the final negotiations in December 2002.
