Voters Open Path for NATO Membership
Ljubljana, 23 March - According to unofficial results, Slovenian voters backed NATO accession with a firm majority of about 66 percent, which is more than the last public opinion surveys suggested. Based on the referendum outcome, Slovenian FM Dimitrij Rupel is expected to send a letter to NATO Secretary General George Robertson on Monday, formally confirming Slovenia's desire to join the Alliance.
