Burns Urges U.S. Senate to Back NATO Enlargement
Washington, 2 April - The U.S. Permanent Representative to NATO, Nicholas Burns, on Tuesday told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that NATO enlargement to seven invited countries - among them Slovenia - would make the Alliance stronger. Burns as well as the committee's Chairman, Republican Richard Lugar, pointed out that all seven invitees supported the coalition's military action against Iraq.
