Joining the Vilnius Statement Was Not Joining the War Coalition, Says Drnovsek
Ljubljana, 5 April - Slovenia has had a consistent position on the war againts Iraq, Slovenian President Janez Drnovsek told TV Slovenija's late evening news on Friday. He reiterated that Slovenia had not joined the war coalition although it supported the Vilnius statement, backing the U.S. policy on Iraq. "It seems as if some would like to push us into a more militant position, into taking sides more clearly, particularly against the U.S.," Drnovsek said, suggesting that these are mainly people who are not happy with the outcome of Slovenia's NATO vote.
